Ouachita Parish ground holds water, and a fence set into soil that stays wet has a harder life than the same fence on dry, firm ground. That affects how posts are set and how deep they go, and it is part of why a fence built to a generic spec somewhere else does not always translate. Drainage across a property matters too — a line that runs through a low spot will see standing water after heavy rain, and that is worth knowing before posts are placed rather than after.
