Storm-damaged fence repair.

A storm rarely takes a whole fence evenly. It finds the post that was already marginal and takes the sections either side of it, which is why a repair that only replaces the panels tends to fail again in the next blow. We repair leaning posts, damaged panels, broken gates and storm-related fence damage.

A tree or a large limb across a fence usually destroys the posts as well as the panels, and sometimes moves the fence line. That is closer to a rebuild of the affected run than a repair, and it is worth knowing which one you are looking at before making a claim.

A photograph of the damage from a few feet back tells us more than a description does, and it usually decides whether the job is a repair or a replacement without anyone making a trip.

North Louisiana weather takes fences down, and the instinct after a storm is to clear the mess. Take photographs before you do. Whether an insurer covers the damage is between you and your policy, but the claim is far easier to make when there is a record of what the fence looked like before anything was tidied, from a few angles, with something in frame for scale. It also helps to note which way things fell, because wind direction and a fallen limb tell a different story from a post that had already rotted. None of that can be reconstructed once the debris is gone. If a fence is down across a boundary or blocking access, secure the gap first and photograph what you moved.
